The Tree of Everlasting Knowledge The Liberty Series Volume 5 Christine Nolfi 9781468199277 Books

First off I have to say I put off reading this book for two reasons: (1) For some reason I didn't like the title, I still don't...(2) When I read the synopsis it starts off by saying..."A savage rape..." Now if I know ahead of time I usually don't read stories that involve rape. However, Ms. Nolfi interwove it into the story, but, didn't get graphic with it. (It was not in your face with every little detail.)

So, after I faced up to my idiosyncrasies and settled down to actually reading the book I found it interesting. It had a bit of mystery, intrigue, and just the right amount of light romance to keep me interested and turning the pages. All-in-all I found it an enjoyable read and awarded it 4 "Old Oak Tree" stars.

This is not the first book I've read by Christine Nolfi, I've read all of the Liberty books in this series, and found them all entertaining in their own sort of way. Even though this is a book in a series, it is still a stand alone book.

This book is a part of my Kindle library.

The Tree of Everlasting Knowledge The Liberty Series Volume 5 Christine Nolfi 9781468199277 Books Reviews

Christine Nolfi's books always suck me in and capture me in such a way that I have to read them straight through. And this one does the same. Her characters are always real and you wind up caring about them. This story is a little bit mystery, a l iittle bit romance, and keeps you guessing as to how it is all going to play out in the end. There is enough of the story revealed by as well as other commenters that I am not going to give anymore of it away, just take my word for it that you will enjoy this story and the people in it. Then if you have not read the others in this series go back to book 1 and read them all. I grew up in small mining towns and this series really resonated with me. If you have not lived in a small town then this series will show you what that kind of life can be.
this book is part of a series of books. i recommend reading the series only because the storys are wonderfully written. with that being said you do not have to read any of the other books to be able to fully understand this story. it does stand on its own. their are so many things i loved about this book. first their is not a lot of time spent on back writting. something that kindly irritates me. second the raw feelings of fostering and being fostered feel real as you are reading. third the book flows as you are reading. it does not feel forced or jagged, if anyone can understand what i mean. although i do recommend starting early in the day to start reading, i was up untill 3AM reading because i just could not put it down. i also missed my shows last night.
I'm not going to rewrite the book synopsis for you here. I simply want to write what I would want to read in an honest, unbiased book review. I purchased this book myself and did not receive compensation to write this review.

This book is going on my all-time favorites list. I loved it. It usually takes me a few pages to get drawn into a story, but I was under author Christine Nolfi's spell from page one and read the entire book in one sitting. I've also read the first four books in her Liberty series and love the way she writes. She has a very clear voice, is very descriptive without being overly so and everything flows easily. Because poor proofreading is one of my biggest pet peeves, I'm happy to report that nary a misspelled word or typo was to be found. Many thanks for excellent editing.

The Everlasting Tree of Knowledge is filled with complex, very human characters with rich, interconnected personal histories. I loved that because I felt like I was able to get to know them personally. Part of the excitement of the plot was that just about every character had a hidden secret. Some we knew at the beginning, a few we didn't know about until the end. The plot was filled with so many surprising twists and turns, it kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. The characters have to deal with very tough, real-life situations and Christine handles them excellently with strong female characters, all the way down to Emma, the little girl who, with her brother, will pull at your heartstrings. Yes, I cried. More than once. The ending was incredible with edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting scenes and drew everything to a very satisfying conclusion for me.

I will say, without spoiling it, that it ends happily ever after, because I like knowing that about books before reading them. Throughout the story, the magnificent tree stands as a symbol for what I personally came away with as the underlying theme A sturdy trunk of love is what defines a family.

I would highly recommend this book and any other book by Christine Nolfi to anyone. She is a magnificent storyteller and a novelist who I'm quite sure we'll be seeing a lot more of in the future.
In the continuing Liberty series, the author introduces us to the Fagan family and gives her readers the back story on the Perini family. The two families are intertwined as family history, drama and romance play out.
As is usual with Ms. Nolfi's stories, the principal characters are women. Strong, loving women, often struggling for balance, and always easy for her readers to identify with.
Balance is not Rennie's forte. She has her hands full as she struggles to manage and grow her electrical contracting business. Working for handsome(and mercurial) Troy Fagan on his family's home expansion is a great opportunity but there is that little matter of their past history. Add to that being strong armed into taking on two foster children by her Mom, and there is a sure recipe for potential disaster.
I have enjoyed the Liberty series for a lot of reasons, but most for the author's ability to bring the town to life through it's citizenry. Every installment town blends a little of past characters while introducing the reader to families/individuals either new or mentioned in passing in previous story lines. I am hoping there will be more of Liberty's townspeople to read about very soon.
