I loved the originality of this book. The world building was amazing and unique along with the interesting characters and great dialog. I loved the MC. She was the perfect combination of strength, sass, and kindness. I never was annoyed with her. Overall the story and plot was great, but it needed to be fleshed out. It was too rushed and I really wanted to read more about the world and interactions between MCs. I would have given 5 stars if it was longer and more developed. It is a clean romance with mild language. I recommend it :)

Woman of Silk and Stone Lost in Edin Book 1 edition by Mattie Dunman Romance eBooks Reviews
the characters, story and world building were all great, however the pacing was off and it ended up making the book feel to short and rushed so we don't fully get the emotional development and pay off that it felt like it was building to. overall, I still liked the book and am very interested to see what she come out with next
There were some nice elements to the story. It was rather short, and it felt like a bulk of the early time was somewhat inconsequential. Mid way on felt like it was on speed play. It was nice enough, if rushed.
Honey’s rotten day really goes downhill when she stumbles through a portal and ends up in a bright, strange land with colors and characters right out of middle-eastern fairy tales, but they’re deadly real. She’s not the first of such visitors to arrive, and probably won’t be the last, since the new place seems to have regular infusions of new blood, thanks to meddling by the gods. Fortunately, the gods were nice enough in her case to grant her the gift of most languages, meaning she’s able to hit the ground running. And she needs to, because although a very powerful (and powerfully sexy!) man is thrilled by her, not everyone is happy to see her.
The character of Honey is well realized, and full of delightful snark, but not so much you want to slap her. If she’s a little weepy at times, well, wouldn’t you be if you’d been tumbled through a dimensional portal into a palace’s worth of intrigue, and knowing you could never return home? It’s a quick read, and the pacing is just right to keep you staying up past your bedtime to get to the satisfying conclusion. Fortunately, Dunman has left the door open for more stories in this universe, which I’m looking forward to reading.
I would love to hang out with this author! The protagonist's voice is so appealing, so in-the-now, you feel like you're right there with her!
Dunman has crafted a grown-up version of "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe", where having a really bad day in the strange land of Washington, DC (I know, I lived there for 8 years) can lead to a rip in the veil between worlds.
Once on the other side, Honey (yes, that's her name and I love the double entendre!) has new adventures with sly advisers, would-be assassins, gods, the "horde", and a boy king. It's fantasy sure, but it's not so very different from DC, and the author deftly creates this burgeoning similarity that very much keeps even non-fantasy lovers in the moment and in the realm.
The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is I needed just a bit more- the ending was a little rushed. But I'm hoping for a sequel- it's got all the makings of a stellar series.
the writing is not that good, but it does have some amusing scenes
I loved this book. It was really unique and I couldn't put it down. Honey was such a relatable character. The only thing I would say against it I didn't know what sa meant till the end (mine). Worth a try and I hope she comes out with more books of this world love to see something about the horde.
Honeydew "Honey" Morning-Sun Sullivan - a human who somehow is inexplicably transported across the void into another world and had to deal with strange physical-changes as she tries to figure out why she's "sent" there. I got drawn into the story but there could have been more friction or something more between her and Sarrim, the hottie if you want to be literal.
